Tim Smith (UK) Guitar Player with Suzie
Quatro |
Tim Smith was born in England in a
small town called Bury near Huntingdon. His parents were teachers and when he
was one year old moved down south to Wimbourne in Dorset. When Tim was eight
the whole family moved again to Dusseldorf, Germany where his Dad had a new job
as a Head Teacher. He spent the next ten years here and after sixth form came
college. Tim ended up working in a gasket factory and left after he had saved
enough money to buy his first car. He then started working on guitars repairing
and setting up for various companies like Gibson, Martin, and Washburn etc. He
spent a year in Vienna working for Guitars Only and Atec and came back to
concentrate on his musical career. Various bands down the line and years of
slogging it out in pubs, when Robbie Gladwell left Suzi Quattro's band, Andy
Dowding, the drummer, got Tim an audition and he was immediately asked to join.
When this happened Tim's own CD project had to be put on hold. Then
into the year 2000 a lull in gigs gave Tim enough time (two weeks) to mix it
and send it off to be mastered. Since then he has released the CD entitled
UNSEEN TERROR under the band name, M.K.F. It's a jazz guitar instrumental album
with a strong modern edge, and features Lincoln Anderson on grooves with just a
touch of sci-fi added for good measure. Locally, Tim can be caught
playing with South of the Border, a live band well worth going out to see. He
also teaches guitar at the Teaching Studio in Ipswich and Tower Music
Stowmarket. Tim uses a selection of Dean Guitars for Stage use,
recording and Teaching. |
